New Heat-Exchanger Technology Unites International Group of Companies

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 15, 2005)— Members of the CuproBraze® Alliance have arrived at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 in Las Vegas to proclaim the advantages of copper-brass heat exchangers to the manufacturers and end-users of construction and agricultural equipment.

“The CuproBraze Alliance is a group of companies determined to spread the word about how durable brazed copper-brass heat exchangers are in comparison to more traditional technologies,” said Gert Lundmark, managing director of the Alliance. “With the tightened emissions requirements facing the industry, heat exchangers that can operate at higher temperatures — such as those made by the CuproBraze process — are suddenly very interesting to the manufacturers of heavy-duty equipment.”

The Alliance formalizes various affiliations and partnerships that developed as member companies worked closely together in the establishment of new technology and production lines. Participation in the activities of the Alliance is voluntary, particularly with regard to sharing of technology. Nonetheless, many members can and do openly share their experiences with CuproBraze.

Members participate in seminars and are highly active at international trade shows relating to the automotive industry and heavy-duty diesel equipment, including on-highway and non-road. Last year, the Alliance was represented at industry exhibitions from Detroit to Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Beijing. Meanwhile, Alliance members, including OEM manufacturers, last year exhibited at many other events, such as the Moscow Auto Show, where URAL trucks displayed some of the first OEM non-road applications of CuproBraze heat-exchangers manufactured in volume by SHAAZ.

The Alliance includes (but is not limited to) material manufacturers such as Outokumpu Copper Strip (Sweden); furnace manufacturers, such as SECO/ WARWICK (U.S.); mechanical equipment manufacturers, such as Schöler (Germany); brazing materials manufacturers such as Brazetec (Germany) and Lucas-Milhaupt (U.S.), Hitachi Metals Trading (Japan), Ultrafine Powder (U.S.) and Vacuumschmelze (Germany). Several heat manufacturers are also members of the alliance, including Najico (Japan), Nanning Baling Technology (China), Radicon (Thailand), Shaaz (Russia). The International Copper Association supports the alliance by sponsoring various promotional activities.

“The CuproBraze Alliance has been instrumental in bringing CuproBraze technology from concept to production,” said Nigel Cotton, Automotive Manager, International Copper Association, and board member of the CuproBraze Alliance. “The current success of CuproBraze in the marketplace is to a large extent due to the foresight and dedication of the members of the CuproBraze Alliance.”
